Ball success

The Foodbank Ball, which took place on 4th March, was once again a roaring success. More than 100 guests came to enjoy a magical evening with the added fun of carnival masks and sparkle, all with the aim of raising funds for Swindon Foodbank. The Mayor of Swindon joined us, and he was very interested to find about more about Swindon Foodbank's work.

The staff at the Hilton Hotel were fantastic, and their Head Chef supplied us with a fantastic and tasty table buffet. We were entertained all evening by the wonderful music of swing band Boulevard Swing, and a special performance by jazz singer Sophia Bovell.

Sophia was keen to give her time to Foodbank as a thank you for support she received when facing a crisis.  "I would like to thank the Foodbank and their volunteers for supporting myself and children throughout difficult times... very testing times".

We’d like to thank the Swindon companies who generously donated wonderful prizes to the Silent Auction - which raised a massive £1,200!  And a regular supporter Martin Bennett photography were present, providing guests with photos to treasure of their costumes and masks, while a percentage of their profits donated to Foodbank. Thanks also go to sponsors of the event - Thornton Associates, Be More Effective, The Co-op and Biomet. With your support we were able to raise a grand total of £3,000 - which will help Swindon Foodbank continue supplying food to those in crisis in Swindon this year.

Guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves - here's a taster of the reviews of the evening:

  • "Thank you so much, I have had a great time and will make sure I can make it next year!"
  • "Everything was amazing... a great chance to dress up and be with friends, supporting a good cause"
  • "A vibrant atmosphere"

For those of you who were unable to join us on the night, we hope to have some photos up soon.
