It's not all hard work and no play at Swindon Foodbank - sometimes we are presented with nice challenges.
Shortly after Christmas we received a call from the supermarket Aldi, asking if we would like some cake. Never being one to miss opportunity Richard said “yes please”. It was a lovely surprise when we arrived at the warehouse to find 18 pallets of assorted cake!
So our sweet challenge to start the year was what to do with them. We did what we do best - distributed them! Over the following weeks we were not only able to offer delicious extras such as coconut cake, angel cake and brioche rolls in our food boxes, but we also had the fabulous opportunity to bless other charities and those who distribute our vouchers in the Swindon area.
A big thank you goes to Aldi for their generosity and to A D Blackburn Transport who gave up their time to deliver the cakes to us and all those who helped spread the Foodbank word and the cakes around Swindon.
Craig has a sweet tooth...
