We would like to warmly welcome the new Restore Project Manager aboard: Ian Howard…WELCOME.
Ian, 50, has lived in the town since 1987, started work last Monday 20th January and already has some great new ideas to make Restore of even greater value to the community: “I would like to ensure that Restore meets the needs of local people through training and support.Amongst my first projects are to develop the garden space to encourage local people to make use of their gardens and to develop school holiday based activities to bring parents and children into the Restore building”.
Ian previously spent 26 years teaching at a Swindon school so has much experience working with and encouraging people from all backgrounds in our town as well as many transferable skills. Ian has a strong sense for justice and fairness for all people and as a Christian attending Gateway church in Westlea previously also ran the Filling Station soup kitchen.
When he’s not busy helping others he likes to get out and about with his fellow Swindonians: “I am a season ticket holder for Swindon Town FC and I join other manic depressives for home games in the chance that we can push for promotion!” Ian is also a keen road runner and has set himself the challenge of running a marathon later in the year to raise funds for Restore.
Ian comments that for him: “This is the beginning of an exciting journey, why don’t you come on board?”
