Our Chairman of Trustees at Swindon Christian Community Projects SCCP, Russell Riggs, hands over the reins to Paul Dixon in October. Russ started with us over 10 years ago as a volunteer at Foodbank, has served two three year terms as trustee, taking over as Chairman around two years ago.
We would all like to thank Russ for his contribution over the years and wish him well for the future.
Russ commented .....
“ It has been a real honour to serve those in need in our community with SCCP. Sometimes challenging but never dull, I have been privileged to meet some amazing people. We are truly blessed with an army of inspirational volunteers, dedicated staff and a well of goodwill from all strands of that community; be that Churches, business, partner organisations or ordinary folk who have caught the vision.
We are currently overhauling how we operate to better position SCCP to respond to the challenges we face and more details will come out in time. Our AGM was therefore necessarily low key this year but watch this space ... we hope to bring this event forward next year and try to involve our many supporters and important stakeholders in our celebrations and plans ... apologies to those who missed the usual cream tea but I am sure you will be excited by the changes next Spring!
Our incredible projects have been such a big part of my life for over a decade now and I hope to be able to continue my association in some way ... I have learned so much. To all the clients I have met, a big THANK YOU ... it has been a privilege and so humbling to see the resilience and determination in others facing circumstances that God willing, most of us will never face ... it has been life changing for me. SCCP came into my life when I was at a low ebb following divorce and I will never forget the love and support I received from fellow volunteers who encouraged and prayed for me in tricky times ... that’s what we are all about.
A good place to finish then, a very big thank you to everyone, too numerous to mention individually, who has supported me in my time as Chair ... it truly has been an honour to play a small part in our efforts to try to reflect God’s love for us all here in Swindon.
